What was your inspiration for creating Hold Your Haunches?

We started Hold Your Haunches when a quest to find a fashionable pant lined in shaping compression designed to smooth and tighten our rear ends resulted in a dead end. Knowing what we wanted, we designed and manufactured our magic pants themselves in three styles – bootcut, legging, and capri. The results were astounding. Telltale signs of less than perfect posteriors were erased immediately , comfortably, fashionably (and secretly!).

What has been your biggest success or rewarding moment to date?

We have enjoyed countless rewarding moments and our successes have been beyond exciting. No question, the most successful/rewarding moment was when we aired on Shark Tank in April of 2014 and we were out of product in 3 days. We had always believed that if HYH gained exposure beyond our financial/geographical wheelhouse, women would buy what we were selling…and we were right!

What keeps you motivated in business, even on the tough days?

Laughter, our families and a stiff drink, followed by a good night’s sleep.

What are some of the biggest goals you have for your business?

HYH will continue to grow at a steady clip. We have added colors to our flagship pants, and are now manufacturing items to complete the outfit. We are growing as a lifestyle brand and are working to add a brand ambassador/trunk show model where women like us are able to sell & socialize with other women; making money while tending to the rest of their demanding schedules.

Who has been your biggest cheerleader during your entrepreneurial journey?

We have been each others biggest cheerleaders, by Grace, we have never been in the dumps at the same time. Very rarely are either of us down, but if Jenny is, Erin gives her a swift kick and vice versa

Do you wear multiple hats in your business? Which hat do you enjoy the most? The least?

We wear a Kentucky Derby worth of hats! It’s hard when the business is your baby to turn a whole lot over to anyone else. We love designing product, marketing and outreach. We do not like numbers and day to day details. These hats have been turned over to our patient bookkeeper Lita, our wonderful administrative director Amy, and our dear friend and office manger Susie.

What is the one other profession you can imagine yourself doing?

Erin: Floral design & event planning or professional sidekick to Amy Schumer
Jenny: Private Investigator or professional sidekick to Tina Fey

What is your favorite quote?

“You don’t have to get it right, just get it going” – Barbara Corcoran

If you can have lunch with any inspirational woman who would it be (alive or deceased) ☺

Erin: Sheryl Sandburg or Oprah
Jenny: Carolyn Bissett or Princess Diana

What do you picture when you think of the ideal vacation?

Erin: Old architecture, bustling streets and lots of people watching
Jenny: Somewhere I’ve never been with a good book, a good bar and a good spa

What do you love most about having your own business?

Ultimately, we are in charge of our own business destiny and we get to boss each other around and don’t have to answer to anyone but ourselves. Success vs. Failure is on our shoulders, and our shoulders alone. We probably would not have been very good at answering to corporate bosses!
